The Huntaway
The Huntaway is a New Zealand dog breed primarily used for sheep herding due to their deep bark and instinctive herding ability. The Huntaway is extraordinarily smart and generally very easy to train. They are a friendly breed and very active. This working dog breed is very driven and requires a lot of exercise/work to prevent boredom and destructive behaviour including excessive barking.
Bark Collars for Huntaways
Due to the Huntaway's active and focused nature, we only recommend static electric bark collars for this breed. Static electric bark collars deliver the most effective form of correction and from our experience, Huntaway owners don't find much success with citronella spray collars, vibration collars, and ultrasonic collars. The only situation we recommend citronella spray collars is if you have a puppy under 6 months old, or a senior dog or a blind/deaf dog.
